Miranda and Me

Yesterday morning, I went to breakfast at a cute little cafe with one of my best buddies, Miranda (no, her real name isn't Carly). We went to a quaint cottage-like place called Sweet Butter and ordered egg white omelets in an attempt to be healthy. We figured we had the remainder of the day to squash that dream, so we might as well start off right.

After our breakfast, we went to Runyan Canyon and hiked. We chugged water and struggled to breathe as obnoxiously healthy mothers pushing their babies in strollers seemed to jog past us, unintentionally mocking our struggles.

Whenever you get me and Miranda together, it's a real-life sitcom in every sense of the word. After our breakfast and questionable workout, we started talking about those instances where you're on a date with a guy and you feel like he's about to kiss you, but for whatever reason the chemistry just isn't there for you, so you're trying to avoid it at all costs. You keep your hands full with whatever you can hold, you carry idle conversation, you "trip"... whatever it takes.

Miranda not only told me about a scenario she recently had where she attempted to avoid but ended up begrudgingly and uncomfortably kissing her date, but she proceeded to drive me back to the scene of the crime so I could get the play-by-play firsthand. I laughed hysterically as she recreated the scene for me, which ended in her spottily pulling out of a tight parking space as her pursuer looked on with cheeky confidence, hands stuffed in his pockets like the hero of a John Hughes movie. Miranda is a wizard at storytelling... I wish you could all hear her. But you can't. So you can either enjoy this blog or take a hike. Hopefully hikes are easier for you than they are for me and Miranda.

  1. Maybe it's not a good idea for me, but after reading this, I think I'll let the girl make the first move if I ever go out with anyone.

And Miranda's way of story telling reminds me of an eight year old me who once did what she did.

  2. Dating stories are always the best, either they are romantic and cute or embarrassingly hilarious. Both make for good storytelling. I wonder what Miranda did to apparently intentionally trip herself to avoid contact with the guy.

  4. I Love the clarification about Miranda ha. People also refer to her as 'Megan'. Oh hey, I have pictures of you at sweet butter ( it's not really creepy because I didn't take them myself although I wish I had) the food must be good though if you returned.

Hahahahaha ahh I've been through this. Definitely know what you mean there. It's really awkward. I wish some guys could take a hint when a girl is no longer interested! I mean.. we should not have to spell it out.

Yowzas! that sounds hilarious though. J you're actually an incredible story teller yourself, just saying. You spin tales and crack wits like no other in this world babygirl ;)

    Thanks for sharing. XOXO

  6. I like the idea that you and Miranda are friends in real life. I also like that you started a blog, I can't stand twitter, this is much more engaging and interesting. Please keep it up. I look forward to the day that my daughter will be old enough to enjoy iCarly and Sam & Cat. Your character shows young girls that they can be strong and independent, It's nice to see that you are like that in real life as well. I imagine you do not read the comments, which is understandable considering some of the comments I've seen on your Facebook profile, but that's ok. I just wanted to say I am impressed with your maturity and sense of humor and I look forward to your next post!

  10. I don't think I have ever tried to kiss someone that didn't lean in for said kiss... and actually hiking is quite easy, I hike mountains and such. Maybe you two should scoot to MA and we'll go hiking...

  12. Is so nice to see that you two are friends behind the cameras, that's not a common thing at show business. I'm lol just reading it, I bet Miranda recreating that scene was incredibly funny i wish i could have seen it. Anyway I have to tell you how much i admire you, you're REALLY talented and your voice is one of the best for me, believe it. Let me seize the opportunity and ask you bout "not that far away", that song was written by you? I still get a unbelieveble love for this song.

I'm in Brazil waiting you for a visit! ♥

  13. sorry for my English, it's terrible, I know you're a busy woman and do this for your fans to know you more, and I really like it, I'm Bolivian and one of the questions I like to ask is if you take the time read reviews of your fans, I guess we would all be happy to receive a few words of Jennette McCurdy in response to some comments, just a couple of them.
    A big hello to Bolivia

  21. you have a really nice style to your writing.
Wow, with growing up with only brothers (I have 6 older brothers) I thought you would love hiking, it is one of my favourite forms of exercise and always gives me a sense of adventure and achievement.
I look forward to reading more about "A Day in the life of Jennette McCurdy" and the light heartedness you bring to everything you do, good on you for being the role model that our generation needed and future generations will have

Life isn't about meeting others expectations, it is about exceeding your own.

    1. I also think you have an entertaining style of writting. Its quite whitty and honest. I stumbled across this blog when I saw 3 of my friends liked your page on facebook. I honestly did not recodnize the name so I was curious as to why these 3 individuals would like the same page. Then I saw the link on your wall and here I am. So I don't know much about you. Except that (yes, I know it sounds ignorant) you were iCarly's friend on that show.

    2. You should look up more about her, she is amazing.
Months ago I was curious as to what other things she was acting in and looked her up on imdb and her bio on it shows how talented she really is (all the hobbies she has participated in at one point or another) and I always admire anyone with the will to try new things.
But a few weeks ago I came across some of her vine videos (and obviously recognised her from icarly as well) and then through watching more of her vines on youtube, as well as suggested videos, discovered that she is a genuine/talented person who cares dearly for friends/family/fans as well as participates in a lot of charity work.
to me that is what should be talked about in the media, not stupid attention seeking celebrities who think that any publicity is good publicity

      *rant over* :P

  22. I wonder if Jennette will ever remember this blog or contribute to it again. Ever since that whole ex-bf thing, I feel like she absolutely lost her luster for being open about her personal life.
